December 2009

I got an update from Susan Stone from Cincinnatus, NY about Windkhatcher (Klint Black+++/  X  Windkhist).  Susan sent Windkhatcher to Craig Barrett (www.hhfarmltd.com) to get started under saddle.  Windkhatcher is home now and Susan is having a great time continuing his education....

Windkhatcher is doing really well. He is not perfect but considering he will just be three and half, I think he is great. We are having a lot of fun together. He will probably go back to the trainer in the spring. If everything goes well, hopefully I can show him next year.

It's going to be fun to watch these two as they progress.  With such a nice foundation, I expect they will do extremely well! -

   November 2009

Got this addition from Bonnie from the EAAHSC Banquet:
At the EAAHSC Banquet Khassidy was Champion in Purebred Geldings 2 & 3 Year Olds, Champion in Halter Handling 3 & Under, and Champion Futurity Geldings 3 Year Olds.  Our boy had a great year!

I just got this from Tina Stoernell:
Sue,
I just wanted to share the news about .SHA AMIRA MOON BEY  [ Klint Black+++/ X Moon Lily Bey]. We just came back from double duty at the VAHA and the BRAHA end of year high point banquets last night, and we did very well.   Amira  received 4th place year end high point for SHIH Mares from BRAHA, and she received 8th place for SHIH (combined) from VAHA.  She also received 5th place in Trail Class from VAHA.  Very respectable given the limited showing we did this year and it being her first year debut.   With Amira's help, I was honored with grand champion awards for my age group at BRAHA, and reserve champion at VAHA, as well as grand champion exhibitor from BRAHA.  We could not be more proud.  So look out for next year when Amira is under saddle!

I got these darling pictures from Tina Stoernell of her daughter Sophia and Amira Moon Bey (Klint Black+++/ X Moon Lily Bey) and just had to share them:

"The Princesses of Sunscat Hollow".
Sophia is seen here in her western wear complete with her signature tiara. No doubt who the princess is at our house! However,  Amira apparently felt that she was the princess that deserved the tiara and tried to steal it away from Sophia.  Now do you see why we settled on Amira's name?  Her name meaning "princess" speaks well to her personality, and lends to just a little more "diva drama" at our house.

Welcome to the Charming Meadow family to Maranda Bouchard and "Salinger" (Klint Black+++/  X Sweet Karolin).  Maranda purchased Salinger when he was just 2 months old from breeder Aimee Swistak.  According to Maranda, "I grew up riding his grand-dam, Sweet Salin.  I feel so lucky to have him!" Of course, I wanted to know what future she is planning for her colt and she said,   "Salinger is 17 months now.  We are working on the basics.  He is such a good boy, very curious, brave and a fast and willing learner.  I am a dressage person, so thats what I want to do with him ultimately.  I board him in CT and live in NYC (for now).  I'm with him on the weekends - which isn't enough for me, but probably enough for him for now.  I just found an amazing dressage instructor on Long Island so I am taking lessons out there now once a week.  Lots of riding -  on trains and horses!"  It'll be fun to watch Maranda and Salinger evolve together.  Here's hoping for another dressage star like Megan Frantz's Kholela Bey!

HI SUE,

KHASSIDY BEY HAS DONE REALLY WELL THIS YEAR.     HE WON MANY HALTER CLASSES.  MOST WERE 2 & 3 YEAR OLD GELDING CLASSES.  HE HAD SEVERAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AND RESERVES WHERE HE  BEAT OUT THE AGED GELDINGS.

IN HALTER HANDLING HE WON MOST OF THE CLASSES (INCLUDING THE END OF THE DAY HALTER HANDLING  CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THE BRAHA SHOWS).

IN SPORT HORSE IN HAND HE WAS ENTERED IN PUREBRED AND OPEN SPORT HORSE 3 AND OVER.  OUT OF FOUR SHOWS, HE WAS CHAMPION IN SPORT HORSE DIVISION AT THREE OF THE SHOWS.  HIS SCORES RANGED FROM 69.5 TO 80.5.

HE WON CHAMPIONSHIP IN ALL THREE BRAHA DIVISIONS! HALTER 3 & 4 YEAR OLDS (all sexes), HALTER HANDLING OPEN, AND SPORT HORSE IN  HAND GELDINGS.  HE WAS ALSO ENTERED IN VERSATILITY WHERE HE PLACED SIXTH (NOT BAD CONSIDERING HE HAD NO "PERFORMANCE" POINTS!).

KHASSIDY  IS "UNDER SADDLE" (IT'S ON HIS BACK!!!)  I'VE BEEN DOING THE CLINTON ANDERSON BODY CURRY COMB LAYING ON HIS BACK ACROSS AND LENGTHWISE.  HE'S HAD A BIT IN HIS MOUTH SINCE APRIL SINCE IT WAS REQUIRED FOR THE SPORT HORSE CLASSES.  I'VE ALSO BEEN LONG LINING HIM.  HE'S DOING GREAT.  AS SOON AS I'M CONFIDENT THAT HE HAS "WHOA" PERFECTLY DOWN, I'LL THEN BE CLOSE TO GETTING ON HIM - HOPEFULLY BEFORE CHRISTMAS.  MY GOAL IS TO HAVE HIM UNDER SADDLE, WALKING AND TROTTING BY APRIL 2010 (THE FIRST SHOW ).  UNFORTUNATELY I ONLY HAVE DAYLIGHT TO WORK  HIM ON THE WEEKENDS AND I DON'T HAVE AN INDOOR ARENA SO I'M AT THE MERCY OF THE ELEMENTS (AND I HATE COLD!!)

WISH ME LUCK AND SAY A PRAYER FOR ME - HE'S A BIGGGG BOY. AND IT'S HIGH UP THERE.

BONNIE

October 2009

I had a great chat with Kelly Boelman from Canada last evening.  She's in the process of naming her 09 Klint filly and came up with Ebony El Ektric Black ( you have to say it fast and all run together, but you get the idea - she's a sizzler!) Of course, I asked her for some pictures and she sent these.  Now I wasn't going to use the candid shot at first, but the more I looked at it and the more I read Kelly's description, I just had to include it too... totally cracked me up!  This filly is SO typical of Klint's kids - a little bit darling and a little bit devil!  I see the same traits in grandson Black Magyk - his nickname has become Mr Houdini for all of his gate opening shenanigans.   It runs in the family!!!

Here's one of Ebony El Ektric Black/aka Busy Body.  See the halter on the ground?  See the mare I have to go re-halter?  See the giddy
filly beside me? It only took her about 4 minutes to pull that thing
off her mother.  I wish the panel wasn't in the way, but you can see,
at only 4 1/2 months old (I'm 5'4"), this is a very substantial,
smooth 'lil gal.  I adore her, mischief and all! Kelly

Exciting news from Lynn Tucker - Jebediah Black is now officially under saddle!  Jeb has been with trainer Duane Esser since early summer.  Yesterday Lynn was at Duane's to check on Jeb's progress and got a special treat when she had the chance to ride him.  Lynn has big plans for Jeb in Sport Horse classes next year and it's really fun to see them take this first step together.  This is why being a horse breeder is so neat!

 August 2009

I had a wonderful weekend with a visit from Beth Conti (Mirage V++//'s owner) and her stepdaughter, Jan Higa, a professional photographer from Colorado.  They were here to see Anna Miriah and meet Windsong Bey since Beth has leased her for a second foal.  Lynn Tucker and her husband Jim came over from New Jersey to meet Beth and snuggle their new filly.  We had a great time talking horses and getting to know each other.  At one point Jan said to Beth and me, "Did you know each other before?" and we said, "No, we just met this weekend!"  She couldn't believe we had so much in common.  Here's a picture that Jan took of Beth (on the left) and Lynn admiring Anna Miriah....

By the way, Beth has new video of Mirage V++// on youtube !

Talk about a small world.  I sent a picture of Black Magyk (Rajima's colt) to Arabian Horse World for the "Baby Photos Feature" and got the nicest note from Melanie Davis, the Art Director for the magazine!

Dear Suzanne,

I’m the art director at AHW and was reading your caption for our Baby Photos feature and noticed Kharifa Bey mentioned as the great great grandam of Black Magyk. How cool...as I now own Kharifa and thought you’d be interested to know her whereabouts, as I often do of horses I’ve owned/bred and since sold. She’s a wonderful mare and has become an important member of our family and at 22 years old, still looks fantastic! She has become my husbands primary riding horse as we enjoy some wonderful trails around the central coast of California. Kharifa spent 11 years at Varian Arabians as an important broodmare for them, but when they could no longer get her settled in foal, Sheila offered her to us as a personal riding mare since Sheila has become a good friend over the years.
Anyway, long story short, she has a great home with us in California and we are thoroughly enjoying what a lovely, sweet, and beautiful mare she is.
Attached a few recent shots of her..please excuse the halter under her bridle! Her head is too pretty for that, but it’s handy when we venture out.

Sincerely,
Melanie

 July 2009

Rajima Black delivered a gorgeous black colt with a star, snip, and 3 socks on Friday evening, July 10.  He is by 2007 National Champion Sport Horse Stallion PA Nyte Star.  He is pictured here at 3 weeks.

Exciting news!  Lynn and Jim Tucker are the proud new owners of Anna Miriah, Windsong's filly by Mirage V++//. Beth Conti of Loomis, California, has leased Windsong again for a 2010 foal and I'm sure is hoping for another foal as beautiful as this one!

Just got a call from Megan Deveney Frantz.  Megan and Kholela Bey (GS Khochise+++// X Windsong Bey) had an incredible show at Region 15 winning Champion Training Level Dressage ATR (with a score of 70.8!), Champion Training Level Dressage Junior Horse, Reserve Champion Training Level Dressage Open, and Top 5 in Sport Horse Under Saddle Junior Horse.  With the 33 Achievement Award points they picked up at this show, Kholela now has enough points to complete her Legion of Honor!  Way to go Megan and Kholela!  (pictures to follow!)

Congratulations to Beth Conti of Loomis, California, new "grandmom" to an exquisite black (maybe grey) filly born July 3rd by Mirage V++// (Desperado V  X  Misti V ) out of Klint's dam, Windsong Bey.  Beth leased Windsong just to breed to Mirage and what a great cross it turned out to be!  I get to play with the filly until she's weaned, then she's off to Beth in California.

June 2009

Congratulations to Kim Kuhlman, proud breeder of a gorgeous black Klint colt born 6/12/09 out of SA Black Satin (HW Satin Prince X Dynonight). He already has a name - NA Klint's Maverick.  (I'm especially impressed with this since it always takes me forever to come up with names for foals!) Kim does professional photography and has a really neat website at http://www.kimkuhlman.com.  She has a beautiful gallery of pictures of Maverick as well as other work that she has done.  Maverick is also available for sale.  Kim can be contacted at kim@kimkuhlman.com.  The pictures below are from Kim and Maverick was about 10 days old.

May 2009

Way to go Megan Deveney Frantz and Kholela Bey.  At the North Central PAHA "A" rated Arabian Show they cleaned up!  With 2 judges and separate points, they won Sport Horse Mares Open and ATH, Sport Horse Under Saddle Jr Horse, Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse, Mare Halter ATH, Mare Halter Open and Champion Mare.  Congratulations for an outstanding show!  I believe Sport Horse Nationals is a goal for them this year, so keep on the look out for them.

April 2009

Exciting news from Megan Deveney Frantz.  In her first "A" rated show of the season she cleaned up with Kholela Bey - Klint's kid sister by GS Khochise+++// out of Windsong Bey.  Megan and Kholela won Championship in both Hunter Pleasure Open and ATR and tied for Champion Dressage ride with a score of 70.  A great first show on the road to Sport Horse Nationals 2009!  Congratulations Megan!

Congratulations to Luke and Kelly Boelman of Westlock, Alberta Canada whose mare, Ebony El Shania had a black Klint filly on Sunday April 19.  Here she is at 2 hours old - more pictures to follow.

March 2009

March 10, 2009
Congratulations to Jamie Hendry of Lewisburg, PA on her purchase of Klint's donated breeding to the Sport Horse Payback program.  Jamie has been one of Klint's most loyal fans and has watched him grow up over the years.  It'll be fun to see what he produces with her mare "Peggy Sue".

Feb. 2009

From the Arabian Horse World!:

Dear Suzanne,

Congratulations! We recently compiled our latest research on the stallions who sired 10 or more foals in the last 10,000 registrations and Klint Black made the list with 18 foals. The results and analysis of our research will be printed in the March Stallion II issue.

Sincerely, Wendy

December 2008

12/12/08    We have a new member in the Klint family.  A warm welcome to Emily Stauring!  Emily has a Klint son that she will be using in her Pintabian breeding program.  It will be lots of fun to see some kolorful Klint grandkids in a few years!

Hey, Suzanne!
I just wanted to write you an e-mail to introduce myself. My name is Emily Stauring and I own Nekoda Stables in NY.(http://nekodastables.com) I have just purchased a Klint Black ++  son, Klint Bey and I could not be more thrilled! He was bred by Ken Deamer, and I am so excited about where he will take us!  My boy reminds me a lot of Desperado V in a lot of the ways he acts, moves and looks! Hopefully the similarities will continue! =) We hope to be halter showing him this spring/summer and then most likely WP or Reining. He seems to have a real knack for the Western "arts" so we'll see. As soon as we bring him to the trainer she'll let us know, maybe it will be dressage!

October, 2008

A big welcome to the Klint family to Tina Stoernell!

I want to introduce myself.  My name is Tina Stoernell and I am now the proud new owner of Moon Lily Bey and her daughter Petticoat Jct. Lizzie (Klint's daughter) 2005.  We now call her "Amira" because she is a true princess and she knows it.  I originally did not intend to buy another young green horse, but when I took one look at her, I knew I had to have her.  She has an in your pocket disposition.  So we purchased both her mother and her.  I had done some initial research prior to our purchase and was quite impressed with Klint Black and even more impressed to see he is now making his name in the publications.  We hope to get her in the show ring locally this next year, and will be happy to keep you posted on our progress.  We are a small farm in Northern Virginia and are just beginning to branch out and consider a breeding program of our own, but I have been bitten by the show bug again and both myself and my children are back in the ring.  We feel blessed to own such beautiful horses and I believe that "Amira" will take us to new places and a new level.

September 3, 2008

EXCITING NEWS!  The Arabian Horse Times Leading Juvenile Sires List has just been published and Klint is one of only 24 stallions on it!  The list is comprised of stallions 8 and under that have a total of 25 or more registered offspring.  I am especially proud of this accomplishment because Klint has had very little national promotion and has attracted the majority of his breedings through internet advertising, word of mouth and appearances at shows.  Sheila Varian always used to say, "When you're good people notice" and Klint is sure the proof!

August 2008

Klint had his Western Pleasure debut at the Ohio Half Arabian Horse Association Fall Show in Columbus Ohio Aug. 29-31.  He went three for three by winning the Western Pleasure Mares and Stallions Class, the Open Western Pleasure Class and the Open Western Pleasure Championship.  Although the classes were small it was a great schooling opportunity and gave him a chance to show off what he has learned this year with Joe Reser.

Above  Bonnie Harrison is having fun showing her Klint son, Khassidy Bey.  Khassidy is from a Sundance Kid V daughter, making him a double Desperado V grandson.  He is still 15.2 hands as a 2 year old!

Klint's mom, WINDSONG BEY (Wind Storm V X Kharifa Bey) has been leased by Beth Conti of Loomis, California.  Happily, she is confirmed in foal to Beth's incredible Desperado V son MIRAGE V+/ (a more-than-1/2- brother to Klint since Mirage V+/ is by Desperado V out of a Khemosabi++++// bred mare). I get to foal her out and play with baby till it's weaned and heads to the West coast to grow up.  Here's a link to Mirage V's website - www.miragev.com .  He has a wonderful show record with a Reserve National Championship in Working Cow Horse and Regional Championships in Western Pleasure Jr Horse,  First Level Dressage, Training Level Dressage, Training Level Dressage ATR, Sport Horse Stallions in Hand ATH, and Reserve Champion Sport Horse Under Saddle.  Beth, her trainer/ stallion manager Cindy Morgan and I are all really excited about this cross and can't wait to see the foal.  More mare photos in family album.

August 2, 2008

East Coast Championships Show results are in and what a great show it was!  I was thrilled to watch Klint's 4 year old daughter Misty Moon Bey (out of Moon Lily Bey) as she went EAST COAST RESERVE CHAMPION HUNTER PLEASURE, JR HORSE in a very competitive class.  Rider Casey Stichter had to fill in at the last minute for trainer Sharon Eckenrode when she became ill at the show.  Casey did a beautiful job and from the big smile on his face you can see he was as proud as Misty's owner Judy Walter was.  Misty qualified for the class by placing 4th in Hunter Pleasure, Jr Horse in the Eastern Arabian Show and then going on to RESERVE CHAMPION OPEN (!) HUNTER PLEASURE - only her second show and the first time showing open!

Klint's maternal sister Kholela Bey (GS Khochise+++//  X  Windsong Bey) also had a wonderful show placing EAST COAST TOP FIVE SHIH MARES and EAST COAST TOP FIVE SHIH MARES ATH with her owner, Megan Deveney.  Kholela also placed 2nd in the Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse Class.

Klint's yearling son HS KHOZMIK ENKHANTED  (out of TR Mikimoto) placed 2nd in the Eastern Futurity Yearling Colt class - congratulations to owner/ breeder Robin Schnader.

Just when I mentioned Juliette's maternal sister by Moonstone Bey V+  LOL:

Great news from Judy Walter whose 4 year old mare Misty Moon Bey (out of Moon Lily Bey by Moonstone Bey V+) won Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse  at both of the New Jersey Arabian Adventure I & II "A" rated shows this weekend. This is Klint's first foal to be shown under saddle - what a great start for "the next generation"!  Misty is trained and shown by Sharon Eckenrode of Equistar Training Center.  Judy purchased Misty from me (yep - I'm the proud breeder!) when Misty was just 3 days old, so Judy has had the thrill of raising  and watching Misty develop.  Misty is also pictured at 1 week old with her mom Lily (grey mare) on the "Klint Kids" page.

I've just heard from my friend, Mary Haldeman (who also works on this website) that she's offering her Desperado V daughter for sale.  I'm sure anyone visiting here loves Desperado as much as I do..  I actually owned her maternal sister (grey mare on Klint Kids page) for a time.  Mara Juliette can be see here Jules.  She's 9 years old, bay, green under saddle and foaled once with no breeding/foaling issues... very reasonably priced.

I got a wonderful email from Louisa Colson in Brooksville Florida today.  She sent along some new pictures of her 2 year old black Klint filly, Desperada Black:

"Desperada is doing fantastic and is a look a like for Klint and Desperado , all I hoped for. She is the most laid back, affectionate and smart Arabian I've ever owned. She is truly a joy and I love her. "

Louisa has this filly's mom, Mystic Coycorbana (Mystic Warrior QR X Aamanda McCoy), available for sale and she can be reached at louisa email

"A big welcome to the Klint family" to Susan Stone of Cincinnatus, NY!  Susan purchased Windkhatcher last weekend after lots of looking.  She plans to use him as her future show horse in Hunter Under Saddle.  Windkhatcher and I had great fun introducing her to the Clinton Anderson approach to ground work and I think Susan and Windkhatcher will have lots of fun for the next year until he's old enough to go under saddle.  Windkhatcher will be staying here for another month or so while Susan gets her place set up for an additional horse, so Windkhatcher and Jebediah will have some additional play time together for part of the summer.

May 18, 2008

Happy news from Luke and Kelly Boelman of Westlock, Alberta, Canada... their mare, Ebony El Shania BG, was confirmed in foal today. Shania is Klint's first mare bred this year and his first "international" breeding.  Best wishes to the Boelmans for a gorgeous black Klint foal next spring!

March, 2008

Klint left early this month for Indiana and Joe Reser's Setting Sun Training Center  (click HERE!)   where he's going to start a new career as a Western Pleasure horse.  I've always believed in the individual versatility of Arabians and I hope Klint will be a great representative.  He's got good wins in Dressage, Hunter Under Saddle, Sport Horse Under Saddle and Sport Horse Show Hack so now it will be fun to stretch into a new area.  Joe has a wonderful reputation as a trainer and was nominated by the APHA for  Western Pleasure Trainer of the Year.

From a happy customer:

I just wanted to let you know that I'm really very happy with my Klint filly.  Of course I love her dam and what she gives me, but this filly, though she might not end up being a reiner,  is just outstanding.  So 4 squared, correct and balanced. awesome feet and legs and fairly agreeable to work with. I can't tell too much, as my broken leg has prevented me from handling her much, but when she allows my non horse savvy husband to halter her and lead her from pasture to barn, I'm very happy. If she's not sold, she will be shown in sport horse, if she stays looking that way. I'll just have to relearn how to do all that again! Of course I'm still hoping for reining... she's going to be so strong!

Mary

November 24, 2007

Congratulations to Lynn Tucker of Loveland Ohio on her purchase of Jebediah Black, a yearling Klint gelding out of Midnite Cynderella by Padron's Mahogany.  Lynn grew up in the Cotswold's of England and has had horses since she was three.  She's always been a great fan of Arabian horses and is currently successfully showing her NSH gelding, Karlos Santana in hunter pleasure and halter classes.  Lynn says, "I’m hoping Jebediah will be multi talented like his father!!  What I would like to do with Jeb is sport horse under saddle and dressage. Maybe Jebediah would be a good hunter pleasure horse, you never know!"
Jeb will live here over the winter while Lynn and her husband build their barn but eventually Jeb will be Karlos' "little brother" in Loveland!

November 2007

Welcome home Klint!
After over two years at the trainer's, Klint is home for some vacation time.  Here he is enjoying a sunny November afternoon in his paddock.  He's been having a great time rolling in the mud and lording over his two yearling colts in the adjacent pasture.

This is Klint Mcguire, a young Klint gelding owned by Pat Tancredi, enjoying some cuddle time with Pat's two granddaughters.  Pat purchased McGuire before he was weaned and has enjoyed watching him grow up with her grandchildren.  He was started under saddle this summer and is headed for an eventual career in competitive trail riding.

Got this exciting news from Bonnie Harrison owner of Khassidy Bey (Klint Black++  X  Rakhassa Bey by Sundance Kid V).  Khassidy is a yearling gelding that Bonnie purchased from me as a suckling.  She has done all of the conditioning, training and showing herself and has shown him in halter, sport horse in hand, halter handling and futurity classes.

Well, we had our BRAHA Banquet on Saturday evening.  Our boy did really well!!!!!!!  He won Champion High Point for Halter - Yearling Fillies, Colts, and Geldings!!!  He also won Champion High Point for Halter Handling.  He won a 3rd place High Point for Sport Horse and a 4th place High Point for Versatility.   The Champion awards were porcelain Arabian horse statues - very beautiful.  I got one chestnut and one grey. Not bad for his first year of showing do you think???!!!
At the Eastern Arabian Amateur Horse Show Circuit banquet, Bonnie and Khassidy cleaned up again!  Khassidy was Champion High Point Purebred Gelding (Yearling and Younger), Reserve Champion High Point Halter Handling 3 Years and Younger and he won the Yearling Futurity for Colts and Geldings.

Oh, and just in case you looked at that picture of Bonnie and Khassidy and thought Bonnie was a midget, I asked her to measure him and here's what she came up with:  I did measure him a week or so ago.  He measured between 15.1 and 15.2.  He still looks like he's all legs and is curious of everything.  Not bad for a yearling!

Got this sad note from Sandi Potterton:
Khemo Rahbecca passed away this last Sunday, she went out to pasture and never came back in with her buddies.  We searched for her and it appears she laid down in the hollow amidst the trees and went to her final rest.  She was a grand old girl.

Sandi
