East Coast Championships Show results are in and what a great show it was!  I was thrilled to watch Klint's 4 year old daughter Misty Moon Bey (out of Moon Lily Bey) as she went EAST COAST RESERVE CHAMPION HUNTER PLEASURE, JR HORSE in a very competitive class.  Rider Casey Stichter had to fill in at the last minute for trainer Sharon Eckenrode when she became ill at the show.  Casey did a beautiful job and from the big smile on his face you can see he was as proud as Misty's owner Judy Walter was.  Misty qualified for the class by placing 4th in Hunter Pleasure, Jr Horse in the Eastern Arabian Show and then going on to RESERVE CHAMPION OPEN (!) HUNTER PLEASURE - only her second show and the first time showing open!

Klint's maternal sister Kholela Bey (GS Khochise+++//  X  Windsong Bey) also had a wonderful show placing EAST COAST TOP FIVE SHIH MARES and EAST COAST TOP FIVE SHIH MARES ATH with her owner, Megan Deveney.  Kholela also placed 2nd in the Hunter Pleasure Jr Horse Class.

Klint's yearling son HS KHOZMIK ENKHANTED  (out of TR Mikimoto) placed 2nd in the Eastern Futurity Yearling Colt class - congratulations to owner/ breeder Robin Schnader.

Just when I mentioned Juliette's maternal sister by Moonstone Bey V+  LOL:

Great news from Judy Walter whose 4 year old mare Misty Moon Bey (out of Moon Lily Bey by Moonstone Bey V+) won Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse  at both of the New Jersey Arabian Adventure I & II "A" rated shows this weekend. This is Klint's first foal to be shown under saddle - what a great start for "the next generation"!  Misty is trained and shown by Sharon Eckenrode of Equistar Training Center.  Judy purchased Misty from me (yep - I'm the proud breeder!) when Misty was just 3 days old, so Judy has had the thrill of raising  and watching Misty develop.  Misty is also pictured at 1 week old with her mom Lily (grey mare) on the "Klint Kids" page.

I've just heard from my friend, Mary Haldeman (who also works on this website) that she's offering her Desperado V daughter for sale.  I'm sure anyone visiting here loves Desperado as much as I do..  I actually owned her maternal sister (grey mare on Klint Kids page) for a time.  Mara Juliette can be see here Jules.  She's 9 years old, bay, green under saddle and foaled once with no breeding/foaling issues... very reasonably priced.

I got a wonderful email from Louisa Colson in Brooksville Florida today.  She sent along some new pictures of her 2 year old black Klint filly, Desperada Black:

"Desperada is doing fantastic and is a look a like for Klint and Desperado , all I hoped for. She is the most laid back, affectionate and smart Arabian I've ever owned. She is truly a joy and I love her. "

Louisa has this filly's mom, Mystic Coycorbana (Mystic Warrior QR X Aamanda McCoy), available for sale and she can be reached at louisa email

"A big welcome to the Klint family" to Susan Stone of Cincinnatus, NY!  Susan purchased Windkhatcher last weekend after lots of looking.  She plans to use him as her future show horse in Hunter Under Saddle.  Windkhatcher and I had great fun introducing her to the Clinton Anderson approach to ground work and I think Susan and Windkhatcher will have lots of fun for the next year until he's old enough to go under saddle.  Windkhatcher will be staying here for another month or so while Susan gets her place set up for an additional horse, so Windkhatcher and Jebediah will have some additional play time together for part of the summer.

Happy news from Luke and Kelly Boelman of Westlock, Alberta, Canada... their mare, Ebony El Shania BG, was confirmed in foal today. Shania is Klint's first mare bred this year and his first "international" breeding.  Best wishes to the Boelmans for a gorgeous black Klint foal next spring!

March, 2008

Klint left early this month for Indiana and Joe Reser's Setting Sun Training Center  (click HERE!)   where he's going to start a new career as a Western Pleasure horse.  I've always believed in the individual versatility of Arabians and I hope Klint will be a great representative.  He's got good wins in Dressage, Hunter Under Saddle, Sport Horse Under Saddle and Sport Horse Show Hack so now it will be fun to stretch into a new area.  Joe has a wonderful reputation as a trainer and was nominated by the APHA for  Western Pleasure Trainer of the Year.

From a happy customer:

I just wanted to let you know that I'm really very happy with my Klint filly.  Of course I love her dam and what she gives me, but this filly, though she might not end up being a reiner,  is just outstanding.  So 4 squared, correct and balanced. awesome feet and legs and fairly agreeable to work with. I can't tell too much, as my broken leg has prevented me from handling her much, but when she allows my non horse savvy husband to halter her and lead her from pasture to barn, I'm very happy. If she's not sold, she will be shown in sport horse, if she stays looking that way. I'll just have to relearn how to do all that again! Of course I'm still hoping for reining... she's going to be so strong!

Congratulations to Lynn Tucker of Loveland Ohio on her purchase of Jebediah Black, a yearling Klint gelding out of Midnite Cynderella by Padron's Mahogany.  Lynn grew up in the Cotswold's of England and has had horses since she was three.  She's always been a great fan of Arabian horses and is currently successfully showing her NSH gelding, Karlos Santana in hunter pleasure and halter classes.  Lynn says, "I’m hoping Jebediah will be multi talented like his father!!  What I would like to do with Jeb is sport horse under saddle and dressage. Maybe Jebediah would be a good hunter pleasure horse, you never know!"
Jeb will live here over the winter while Lynn and her husband build their barn but eventually Jeb will be Karlos' "little brother" in Loveland!

November 2007

Welcome home Klint!
After over two years at the trainer's, Klint is home for some vacation time.  Here he is enjoying a sunny November afternoon in his paddock.  He's been having a great time rolling in the mud and lording over his two yearling colts in the adjacent pasture.

This is Klint Mcguire, a young Klint gelding owned by Pat Tancredi, enjoying some cuddle time with Pat's two granddaughters.  Pat purchased McGuire before he was weaned and has enjoyed watching him grow up with her grandchildren.  He was started under saddle this summer and is headed for an eventual career in competitive trail riding.

Got this exciting news from Bonnie Harrison owner of Khassidy Bey (Klint Black++  X  Rakhassa Bey by Sundance Kid V).  Khassidy is a yearling gelding that Bonnie purchased from me as a suckling.  She has done all of the conditioning, training and showing herself and has shown him in halter, sport horse in hand, halter handling and futurity classes.

Well, we had our BRAHA Banquet on Saturday evening.  Our boy did really well!!!!!!!  He won Champion High Point for Halter - Yearling Fillies, Colts, and Geldings!!!  He also won Champion High Point for Halter Handling.  He won a 3rd place High Point for Sport Horse and a 4th place High Point for Versatility.   The Champion awards were porcelain Arabian horse statues - very beautiful.  I got one chestnut and one grey. Not bad for his first year of showing do you think???!!!
At the Eastern Arabian Amateur Horse Show Circuit banquet, Bonnie and Khassidy cleaned up again!  Khassidy was Champion High Point Purebred Gelding (Yearling and Younger), Reserve Champion High Point Halter Handling 3 Years and Younger and he won the Yearling Futurity for Colts and Geldings.

Oh, and just in case you looked at that picture of Bonnie and Khassidy and thought Bonnie was a midget, I asked her to measure him and here's what she came up with:  I did measure him a week or so ago.  He measured between 15.1 and 15.2.  He still looks like he's all legs and is curious of everything.  Not bad for a yearling!

Got this sad note from Sandi Potterton:
Khemo Rahbecca passed away this last Sunday, she went out to pasture and never came back in with her buddies.  We searched for her and it appears she laid down in the hollow amidst the trees and went to her final rest.  She was a grand old girl.

Sandi
Khemo Rahbecca (by Khemosabi++++// out of a daughter of twice Canadian Top Ten Stallion Sur Lee out of Canadian National Champion/ US Reserve National Champion Mare Rahbana++),  was Klint's great-great grand dam through Kharbon Bey V - my foundation stallion that I had purchased from Sheila Varian in 1982.  Khemo Rahbecca was a wonderful show horse with a number of excellent wins in Western Pleasure including Region 2 Reserve Champion, but the greatest part of her legacy is in her offspring.  Her son Kharbon Bey V  produced multiNational Champion Western Pleasure JOTR Summer Wind Bey+// and Kharifa Bey, dam of National Champion Western Futurity Horse Kantina Girl V.  Kharifa Bey is also the dam of Windsong Bey, dam of National Champion Sport Horse Stallion Klint Black++.  Khemo Rahbecca also produced Reserve National Champion Western Pleasure Junior Horse, Spirit Hawk+/, Regional Champion Country English Pleasure Horse Khantessa Bey and LPR Kharolina Tu+/.  Overall an incredible production record!  Sandi gave Khemo Rahbecca a loving home to finish out her days.

September 2007:

Sport Horse Nationals was a show of incredible highs and lows this year.  I had entered Rajima Black, Klint's 3 year old daughter, but was unable to take her because of a respiratory infection that she had picked up in August.  I had so wanted to show her to the world, but it'll wait until SHN 09.

Meanwhile, Klint's first class was Wednesday night - Sport Horse Under Saddle sectional.  There were 73 horses entered so they split the class into 4 sectionals with 8 horses from each section going forward to the semi finals.  Klint had a flawless go and won his section of 18 horses placing first on the dressage judge's card and 5th on the hunter judge's card.  Later that evening he went in the Sport Horse Show Hack class.  This one had 33 entries so this was a semi final class.  Klint again had a fabulous showing, advancing on to the finals by placing a strong 4th on the dressage judge's card.  He didn't place at all on the hunter judge's card - a trend which was destined to follow him for the rest of the show.

Bright and early Thursday morning Klint and Larry showed in Training Level Dressage.  Klint was 8th to show in a class of 70!  He scored a 64.5 - just 3.5 points out of the Top Ten.

Thursday afternoon Klint showed in the Sport Horse Under Saddle semi finals - these were the horses from the previous night's classes that advanced, so there were 2 semi final classes of 16 horses each.  Klint again had a beautiful class and once again was qualified to advance to the final class - and once again the dressage judge used him on her card and the hunter judge didn't.

Saturday night was the Sport Horse Show Hack finals class and boy was it tough!  Klint, who is working at Training Level, was showing against horses that are working at 3rd and 4th level - and he held his own!  He is especially good in his extensions showing freedom of movement and power that is just breathtaking.  He needs more work on his collections, but that will come with time.  Both judges were watching him throughout the class and both had apparently written his number on their cards.  Then on the second direction, the judge called for a transition from an extended trot to a collected trot to a collected canter in the space of about 10 seconds.  Both judges were standing together about 15 feet off the rail and a bunch of horses got funneled in front of them all at the same time.  Klint got caught in the traffic jam and picked up a wrong lead - right in front of both judges.  After he passed them both judges scratched a number off their cards...guess it was Klint's since he didn't place.  But boy did he look good for the rest of the class!

Sunday morning was Klint's last class - Sport Horse Under Saddle finals.  From the 73 horses that started this class, Klint was one of 16 finalists to compete.  Again he had a beautiful performance placing 7th on the dressage judge's card and not on the hunter judge's card putting him out of the Top Ten.  I think his results point up the need to divide these huge classes between hunter and dressage types - seems that we're comparing apples and oranges as they are very different in the way of going.

So lots learned at this show.... we need to work on perfecting Klint's collections and continue to get more experience in large groups.  He's only 7 so we've got lots of time.  He'll spend the winter relaxing here at home  and being loved and treated like the super horse that he is.  And next year we'll finish up those last 16 performance points for his Legion of Supreme Merit!
(thanks, Robert Gainey, for Klint's dressage photo)

August 2007:

Klint had an awesome show at East Coast this year.  He was named East Coast Champion Sport Horse Under Saddle AND East Coast Champion Sport Horse Show Hack.  (This is the second year in a row that he won the East Coast Championship in Sport Horse Show Hack!)  Additionally, he scored a 68.2 on his Training Level Dressage Test and ended up compiling an incredible 29 Legion of Merit performance points!  Just 16 more points to finish up his Legion of Supreme Merit.  Next stop, Sport Horse Nationals at the end of September....

KLINT BLACK++ COMPLETES HIS LEGION OF MERIT!

We got the official notification - Klint has completed his Legion of Merit!  This prestigious award requires a minimum of 30 halter points, 30 performance points and 15 points in either category.  Klint has over 60 halter points won in  Sport Horse In Hand, Stallion Halter and Stallion Halter Amateur Owner to Handle. He was 2005 National Champion Sport Horse Stallion, East Coast Champion Sport Horse Stallion, East Coast Reserve Champion Stallion Halter and East Coast Reserve Champion Stallion Halter AOTH - a very unusual accomplishment. He completed his performance points in just 5 shows by placing in Hunter Under Saddle, Dressage, Sport Horse  Under Saddle and Sport Horse Show Hack Classes. Klint was Region 15 Top Five Sport Horse Show Hack  -  a demanding class which calls for 9 transitions both directions of the ring.  Region 15 was only the second time he showed in this class!  Three weeks later, Klint was named East Coast Champion Sport Horse Show Hack and he finished the show season and his Legion of Merit points by winning both the Sport Horse Under Saddle and Sport Horse Show Hack Championships at the Central Piedmont Show in North Carolina.  Congratulations to trainer Larry Jones for a magnificent job!
