October 2011

2011 Sport Horse Nationals were held September  27 to October 2 and the Charming Meadow Kids kicked butt!

Congratulations to Lynn Tucker and Jebediah Black+ by Klint Black+++/- Jeb was National Champion Training Level Dressage and Top Ten Training Level Dressage Junior Horse.  This win is especially incredible because Lynn literally waited until the last minute to enter Jeb, and Megan Frantz, who rode him to his wins, had only a few times to ride him prior to the National show.  In fact, her National Championship ride was her eighth time on him and she actually scored a 78.5 on one judge's card and had a combined total of 72.5!

Additionally, Lynn's filly Anna Miriah C by Mirage V+++// out of Windsong Bey was Reserve National Champion Two Year Old Filly shown by David Connor. This was just her second show!

Megan Frantz showed Kholela Bey+++// out of Windsong Bey to an unprecedented FIVE Top Ten wins:
Top Ten Sport Horse Mare In Hand ATH (first on one judge's card!), Top Ten Training Level Dressage ATR, Top Ten Training Level Dressage AAOTR, Top Ten Sport Horse Under Saddle, and Top Ten Sport Horse Under Saddle ATR.
What's really remarkable about this achievement is that Kholela had pulled a muscle in her hindquarters about 3 weeks before the show.  Megan trucked her to Henderson Equine Clinic in the midst of all of the flooding we had in Pennsylvania from Hurricane Irene.  Kholela  was on paddock rest before leaving for Kentucky and Megan spent hours and hours with hot compresses, massages and hand walking rather than being able to continue working her for her classes.  She was only able to ride her briefly at a walk and trot after 10 days of lay-up and very minimally right up until the national show. Lots of calls to the vet and worrying whether Kholela would be recovered in time for the show, but  thanks to Megan's dedication and hard work Kholela managed to shine!  Imagine what this duo could have done if Kholela were 100%!

Congratulations to Dawn and Clint Voris who showed Black Magyk out of Rajima Black to a Top Ten in the Two Year Old Gelding In Hand class.  Dawn and Clint have done all of the conditioning themselves and Clint did a beautiful job showing him, scoring just 4/10ths of a point behind the Reserve National Champion....

...Who just happened to be Megan Frantz's Mirage V+++// son, Maska C who was Reserve National Champion 2 Year Old Gelding.  He's not really a "Charming Meadow kid" officially, but I've adopted him since I was instrumental in his finding a home with Megan!

Congratulations also to Beth Conti whose filly Mirai C by Mirage V+++// out of Windsong Bey was Reserve National Champion SHIH Yearling Filly.  Mirai was also shown by David Connor.  David had all of 30 days to take a yearling filly who was pasture fit and sunburned and turn her into a show horse!  Great job David!

Congratulations to Robin Schnader and HG Khosmic Enkhanted by Klint Black+++/, Top Ten Sport Horse Under Saddle and Top Ten Training Level Dressage Junior Horse.

Dawn and Clint Voris took Black Magyk to the MSU Summer Extravaganza in East Lansing,Michigan from July 7 to 10th and came home with two blues in Sport Horse In Hand (Open and ATH).  According to Dawn,
He got an 82 and 80.6 ..the judge didn't put any comments, but told Clint he had a lot of potential. He got an 8.6 for his trot and expression 8.6, overall was 8.5... He's really learning how to show. There was a big difference between 3 weeks ago and this show. He didn't break and stood to be judged without fidgeting.

June 16-19, 2011

Dawn and Clint Voris took Black Magyk to his second show last weekend at the Hoosier Horse Classic, June 16-19, Edinburgh, Indiana where he placed 2nd in Arabian Geldings In-hand, AAOTH 2 and over.

Dawn has this to say about Magyk:

Magyk is so much fun to take places. He got excited in some of the halter at the trot, but overall he did a great job. He loves looking at everything and visiting people.

I know I’ve said this before, but he’s such a sweetie! Mikayla [Dawn's daughter] is absolutely in love with him. She goes straight to his stall and scratches him and talks to him every time we go to the barn. He’ll just lay his head next to you and want you to love on him.

I was standing in front of his stall at the show (half doors) eating one of those little things of applesauce (he was eating hay) and before I knew it, he had stuck his nose over the door and into the applesauce. He thought it was pretty good. Needless to say, he got the rest.

June 16 - 19, 2011

Megan Franz and Kholela Bey++/ had another amazing show this weekend at the Shenandoah Valley All Arab Show.  Kholela had the highest purebred Sport Horse In Hand score of the entire show, and was Champion Sport Horse In Hand Under both judges.  She also placed 2nd in MR Halter and was Reserve Champion Mare.  Then she topped off the show by being named unanimous champion in Sport Horse Under Saddle Open and AOTR under both judges!

Megan also showed her two year old gelding Maska C  by Mirage V+++// to firsts in Halter and Halter AAOTH.  Maska was also named Reserve Champion Gelding.  I have to include him here because, even though I didn't breed him, he's practically a member of the family since I introduced Megan to Maska's breeder, Beth Conti.
