Windkhatcher (Klint Black+++/
X Windkhist) had his second show ring experience at the Silver Spur "A"
rated show in Hamburg, NY over Labor Day weekend. He's really growing up
and looks like he's going to be an awesome performance horse! Here's what
his owner Susan Stone has to say:
Hi Sue, Just wanted to update you on Windkhatcher. We
were at our second A rated show last weekend. It was a two day show. He
did well. He settled in nicely and threw a little fit in the warm up
ring the first day. He was better after that. He placed fourth and fifth
with 8-9 horses in the classes. Not bad for a youngster with less than a
year under saddle. He still has a lot to learn. He still needs work on
having other horses riding around him. He is growing into a nice looking
horse. He is home now until spring. We are doing some light riding. He
is also kicking up his heels in the pasture with my mare.

Jamie Leach took her Klint filly
to her first ever show at the Latta Fun Show in association with the Mid
East Coast Arabians Open Show at Huntersville, NC. Jamie's been keeping me
up to date on Khalipseh's education from her first clipping lesson to her
first trailer ride, so it's really fun to share her first show!
So, Khalipseh did great! We got there
SUPER EARLY to get her settled in, which didn't really take much, but
wasn't expecting her to be so good about it. I let her set on the trailer
and look around while I went to the office and got my numbers and stuff. We
walked around the barns and the arenas. She balked a few times, but never
really spooked. I made her trot with me a few times but REALLY slowly. At
one point while we were in the middle of everything, she decided to puff up
and put on a show. I'm not sure what she was bugged by, but the tail went up
over the back and she arched her neck like a swan and literally danced
around me snorting. I was fine with it because she wasn't trying to take
off. I think since she was in the middle of everything, she thought she's
put on a show...haha, it was funny. Larry says "damn, I've never seen her do
that before!"
It came time for the show to start, I had her in line waiting. She just
looked around and wasn't bothered by anything. There were two girls in our
class with mature geldings. So in total, there were 3 in our class. Not much
competition, but they had been in the show ring before. We get in the ring
and the girls didn't know what to do (made sure I was last...), so the judge
tells them to start by the gate, walk to him then trot to the center and
over to line up. First girl goes, and her boy doesn't want to trot,
next, then my turn. Khalipseh starts out at a jog, but I got her to walk and
as we've practiced, she trotted on cue! She didn't want to stand up, but it
wasn't much of a problem....our competition was just standing there. They
called the first number for 3rd, wasn't us (yeah, we're at least second),
called the number for 2nd...not us! I walked her into a circle so when they
called our number, we took off for the gate, tail straight up!!
That was about it, by that time, I had enough, was exhausted and I know
Khalipseh was too. We got home and got rinsed off and all took a nap....I
looked out the door to see Khalipseh flat out in the pasture with Moon close
by on guard duty...
We certainly turned heads at this show...got lots of compliments on how
pretty she is! ....that's my girl!!!! (But she WAS the prettiest horse
there! :-)
So we had a good day and I'm sooo proud of my little girl! :-)
Way to go Jamie and Khalipseh!

May 2010
I just have to include
this picture in the show results section even though I didn't breed
him.... he's KHEMONTEGO BAY, a 4 year old gelding out of Rhuby Tuesday, a
Khemosabi daughter that I had boarded several years ago. I had delivered
two of Rhuby's foals and owned one of her purebred daughters for several
years, so this fellow is kind of part of the family. I had worked briefly
with "Tego" when he was first gelded and then again last winter... working
on ground manners and some Clinton Anderson stuff. He's proudly owned by
Sue Seyler, a paralegal who's had horses, but never Arabs. The New Jersey
Spring Festival was 2 shows over 3 days and it was their first ever "A"
rated Arabian Show . Wouldn't you know it, Tego won all of his halter
classes and was Champion 1/2 Arab Gelding in both shows and also placed
3rd in Sport Horse in Hand. Way to go guys! One heck of a first show!!!

April
Lynn Tucker's gelding, Jebediah
Black (Klint Black+++/ X Midnite Cynderela by Padrons Mahogany) had his
show ring debut - and his first show under saddle - at the OHAHA Spring
Show 4/23-25 in Wilmington, Ohio
Jeb was shown by trainer Duane Esser. They went in 4 classes and had a
great "first experience".
1. PB Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse 3rd place
2. PB Sport Horse Geldings in
Hand 2nd
3. PB Sport Horse Under Saddle Junior Horse 1st
4. PB Hunter Pleasure Junior Horse Championship 4th
Lynn says, " I was so proud of him. My heart was
pounding watching the classes, and I have no finger nails left. He was
scared of the signs on the walls that was about it."
Next stop - Region 14 Show.

A big
congratulations to Bonnie Harrison and KHASSIDY BEY (Klint Black+++/ X Rakhassa Bey by Sundance Kid V). Bonnie and Khassidy had their first show
of the season on April 10th - and Khassidy's first show under saddle:
Well, we had our first show of the show
season Saturday, the BRAHA show at the Harford County Eq. Center. What an
unbelievable day! Khassidy placed
first and second in halter classes.
He won one of the Halter Handling classes
and was second in the other. He didn't do as well as he
normally does in Sport Horse in Hand. He placed fourth in all three classes
he was entered in BUT...... that was probably because he was a bit tired
after showing in 9 Walk/Trot under saddle
classes!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sue, I couldn't believe it. We went in his first ever
under saddle class, Open Walk/Trot Green Horse, against 7
other horses and HE WON IT!!! The next class he got a
fourth because he broke into a canter. He then proceeded to win 4 more
classes with anywhere from 3 to 9 entries! He placed second in his 7th
class and 4th in the last two classes. He had had enough by the last two
classes - he was a bit tired.
Sue, I was blown away. I post-entered him
that morning because I just wasn't sure if he was ready (probably really if
I was ready). I've only been riding him for four weeks. I had planned on
taking him in western but by Wednesday before the show he was just not slow
enough so I bit the bullet and decided to try him hunt seat (which I haven't
ridden in probably 8+ years). Needless to say, I was very hesitant (and
truthfully I'm still not confident in that seat).
I took him up to practice about 10 minutes
before the class and said my prayers. He was such an angel. He didn't shy
(which was my major fear) at anything! He even stood still in the line up!
What a fantastic day!
I'm
especially thrilled for Bonnie and Khassidy because Bonnie has done all of
Khassidy's training since she purchased him as a weanling. Way to go
guys!!!!
